The Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRCS) is recruiting one position based in Khartoum, for the Swiss Red Cross SRC Sudan Delegation

Position: Finance and Administration Officer

Organization: Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRCS)

Duty station for the position: Khartoum, with frequent travels to project states

Tentative starting date: March 1st, 2020 (or earlier upon mutual agreement)


Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRCS)

The Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRCS) is the biggest and most decentralized and widespread humanitarian organization operating in Sudan. The society developed out of the Sudan branch of the British Red Cross Society and was established in 1956. Upon Sudan’s independence in March1956 received official recognition as an independent National Society following the Sudanese Council of Ministers decree No. 869. The National Society covers nearly the entire country with 18 State branches and several sub-branches/units in the provinces/localities and administrative units, with a nationwide community-based network of 40,000 active volunteers and another 400,000 who can be deployed as need arises. It has well-established working relations with public authorities at federal, state and local levels, and good partnership and collaboration with Movement partners and UN specialized agencies and national and international NGOs working in Sudan

The SRCS law has been proclaimed by the parliament in June 2010, giving the National Society a strong legal base and clear mandate to run First Aid, emergency response, health interventions and other humanitarian operations. The Society is well known by the public for its humanitarian work and community service through many years of emergency relief and community-based programming, and through close collaboration with national and international organizations as well as relevant government departments

Swiss Red Cross (SRC)

The SRC has officially opened its Country Coordination Office in Sudan in 90’s and strengthened in 2011. Since then it has been supporting primarily the SRCS with projects in the sector of Humanitarian Aids and Development projects. The mission of the SRC Country Coordination Office is to provide technical support in the areas of Organizational Development, Capacity Building in Operational & Financial Management, Project Cycle Management, monitoring and evaluation of SRC funded projects in the country

Main purpose of jobs

To maintain a good financial management system and internal controls to ensure that the economy, efficiency, integrity and transparency of the organization’s financial activities, accordance with the SRCS-SRC Cooperation agreement, financial management policies, national regulations, and internationally accepted GAAP or IFRS. The person will fully work for the SRC delegation under SRCS contract


Master’s Degree in Accounting, Financial Management, Business Administration

2 years of professional experience working in the international Humanitarian & Development organization managing projects funded through international donor agencies and managing grants and audits

Proven experience in the field of financial management,

Experience in general administrative and logistic tasks (archive, requisition, memo, etc.)

Good knowledge of national and international accounting standards and accounting practices

Experience with Accounting system (i.e. Banana, Navision, etc.) and excellent IT skills in computer based double-entry accounting system and Microsoft Office Application (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point).

Be able to adapt to the situation, and able to work under highly stressful conditions. Respect deadlines

Excellent planning, management and organizational skills,

Demonstrated capacity and prior experience in supervising/training others as a coach/mentor

Experience working in multicultural and multi-national team

Be a team worker, showing willingness to learn and motivation to improve

Willing and able to travel often to different States of Sudan, including remote areas

Knowledge of the Red Cross’ fundamental principles and the Red Cross Movements is an added advantage

English language is mandatory. Good communication skills (fluency in both written and spoken communication) in English and Arabic.

Employment conditions

Annual contracts renewable according to yearly appraisals

Salaries will be based on SRCS salary grid and candidates’ qualifications and experience
